Oh my goodness you guys! I wasn’t planning on writing a post today but I had to say something about the announcement from Volks yesterday. You may or may not know that along with loving Disney and makeup, I also have a collection of Asian Ball Jointed dolls. Yesterday at the Dolls Party LA event Volks announced that they have spent the last two years working on a very special Super Dollfie collaborative project. A project with the Walt Disney Company. All that is known so far is that it is Disney Princess themed and that they are getting close to completion.
UPDATE: Volks posted on their Instagram that the collaboration between them and Disney should be released in Winter 2019.
What Are They?
For those that don’t know, the Japanese company Volks produces a line of Asian Ball Jointed Dolls known as Super Dollfie. They are made of resin and highly customizable. The ability to customize the dolls for many is a large part of the appeal. Volks produces a basic line of dolls, a “full choice system”, and also release special limited edition full set dolls. I’m sure the Disney release will be a full set.
The dolls aren’t cheap, and when released as full sets are even more pricey. Even though they are expensive Volks always does such an outstanding job on the details so it is quite likely the Disney releases will be breathtaking. I currently own one Volks doll, a YOSD (the Super Dollfie dolls come in a variety of sizes, YOSD are 26cm dolls) that has been repainted and customized to be unique. I owned another Standard Super Dollfie many years ago that I’ve since sold. Volks dolls are loved by many so I’m sure I’m not alone in my excitement to see how this collaboration turns out.
